Let's create a branch off the current trunk, for safety.
"cvs diff -u -r TAG1 -r TAG2" is your friend
extension.in has been obsoleted since we don't use the padding
technique anymore.
start with the base system, when that's done go on to the support for
distribution - it is the latter that will prove the harder for 2
reasons: (1) my fixes had often to do with proper C++ usage
(e.g. necessary invocations of constructors with "placement" argument
to guarantee the correct initialization of the vtable pointer)
(2) the design has changed between the release branch and the trunk,
so that it may take a little more work than straight diffs. I'll
explain more when you get there.
