RE: Windows-related Bugs and the new release

Kevin, Kostja:

| I am in the same position as Kostja, I will help out where I
| can, or if I have to. I do build Mozart under Windows, but I
| *hate* doing it. It seems we are missing someone who has the
| incentive and experience building software under cygwin and
| building Windows installers (well, up to now Leif has been
| that largely unthanked man).

It is my intention to step into this role, if it's available. It will take
me some time to absorb all the details that are second-nature to you
long-timers, of course, but as far as Windows programming and installer
experience goes, I have it.

|
| [I have also used InstallShield Express to build Windows
| install packages, but I am a blind man groping in the dark
| looking for the exit rather than the light switch if you see
| what I mean.]

Yeah, aren't we all?

|
| It would be great if someone could investigate the
| gcc3/cygwin issue and update the Windows building
| instructions appropriately. Any volunteers to do that?

I will do it. I'm getting myself set up at work to take on a general purpose
role in testing and fixing Windows bugs, then regression testing the unix
version on Linux to make sure we don't inadvertantly break anything for
those platforms by fixing something for Windows. I would be pleased to
create the Windows installation builds; I have access to InstallShield
Developer and of course the .NET MSI setup capabilities in Visual Studio
2003. A free alternative for windows is Nullsoft's installer.
