I know this may sound strange to some, but a few years back I named a
file aux.xxx an my Windows system (then W95) and it caused such an
unspeakable mess / corruption of my filesystem, it just wasn't funny.
When I discovered what the cause was, I didn't even bother to check with
a Microsoft site - I just didn't want to hear the sob story...
So it's nice to hear my suspicions confirmed.
I've never named anything "aux" in Windows since then...
